This charming little fellow has blue
eyes set below arched brows, a full gray beard and his cheeks
are tinted with a rosy glow from the effort he has made to open the
walnut shell so you can deposit your coins. He is wearing mauve-pink
pants, a blue shirt, a pointed end burgundy cap and black shoes. The
top of the base is painted grass green and there are traces of the
original gold accents on the sides of the base. The underside is concave and unmarked. |

The cooper gnome is shown working on a large loose barrel. Both pieces are made of heavy earthenware and hand painted. Height about 16 ½ inches, total weight about 10 lbs. The gnome was never kept in a garden, therefore it still has most parts of the original paint (including the face). One leg, one arm, the hammer head and the head were broken and restored carefully in a skilled manner. The barrel was produced separately. Otherwise the gnome shows the usual signs of age with tiny colour rubs and spots. (2 bids) |
