Candice Kimmel - Kimmel gnomes

Artist Candice Kimmel brought her love of old world Garden Gnomes from her native country Wales to the gardens of the USA. Her studio is located in the beautiful Black hills of South Dakota, right in the heart of Sturgis.

In a world of concrete and plastic, Candice exclusively manufactures high quality, handmade, clay garden gnomes that you would be proud to display in your own garden, give as a gift, or hand down through the generations.

Each Gnome is made in her workshop and takes 1-2 weeks to complete.  Due to the handmade and hand painted process, no two Gnomes will be exactly alike, so if you are fortunate to own one of these special gnomes you can be assured that every Gnome is truly unique.

Her Gnomes are cast from rare 18th and 19th Century antique Gnomes and original works by Candice Kimmel.  They are handmade using English stoneware pottery which has a beautiful quality and feel. It's a very strong type of pottery that is fired in her kiln to 2,232 degrees Fahrenheit to make sure it holds up to weather, heat, cold, damp, and will last a very long time.  She colours her gnomes with a matt glaze which is fired into the clay at extremely high temperatures and only uses acrylic paint for small details on some gnomes.  The glaze finish ensures true colour and zero maintenance for the life of the gnome.
