Spang gnomes are very recognizable by their not so cute, cheeky faces and floppy caps. Clemens Spang started manufacturing these fine gnomes in Ludwigsburg, West Germany between 1950's into the early 1960's. They were made of sturdy earthenware and were partly spray painted and then hand painted and varnished. His gnomes generally came with parted legs and most had teeth.
The Company was in business for only a short time and little is known about Clemens Spang the maker.
