A special exhibition took place at the Bergbau Museum, Freiberg, Germany to celebrate the history of the garden gnome from their roots in the gold and silver mining industry in the 1870's.

On display were over 200 hand painted clay figures which were kindly made available by the Reinard Griebel Museum.
